Pittsburgh Glass Center is seeking a full time Studio Technician to organize
and maintain a safe, efficient, and positive studio environment for renters
and students.  The studio includes hot, cold, flame and kiln facilities.

 

Regular duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

.        Operate all equipment associated with the everyday functioning of
the Hot Shop, Cold Shop, Kiln Shop, and the Flame Shop in a safe and secure
manner.

.        Recognize, diagnose and repair malfunctioning Hot Shop, Cold Shop,
Kiln Shop, and the Flame Shop equipment.

.        Manage a clean and organized studio.

o   Check that supplies and equipment are in order

o   Report breakage on work request forms

o   Conduct routine cleaning of facilities

.        Communicate actively with studio renters and students.

.        Monitor shops and studios. This includes:

o   Management of rental space

o   Scheduling and overseeing studio clean up

o   Maintaining of tool inventory

o   Communicating supply levels weekly/monthly

.        Assist with special events, facility rentals and exhibition
openings.

.        Act as a liaison with contracted instructors.

 

It is preferred, but not required that the applicant have background in
managing a glass studio.  Basic knowledge of machinery, hand tools,
electrical and plumbing systems is beneficial.  The capacity to communicate
effectively with co-workers and excellent customer service is a must.

 

This position will start full time June 24, 2013. Pittsburgh Glass Center
offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Compensation will be based
on previous experience and qualifications.
