Additional Information: nanopod: Hybrid Studio has been an independently run artistís studio since 2005. Working with metal for over 25 years, Teran was introduced to glass as an artistic medium in the late 80ís however the concept of incorporating glass in her work wouldn't kick-in until 2004 when working with a glass blower at Harbourfront Studios, flamewo Glass studies continued at The Studio at The Corning Museum of Glass with Colourist, Suellen Fowler and Jesse Kohl. In 2008 Teran's metal and glass work caught the attention of Dawn Bennett, executive director of Urban Glass who invited Tosca to create a body of work to be featured at SOFA, NY 2009. In many ways working with glass is similar to working with metal; lost wax casting, soldering or 'welding' glass components together. I enjoy the imediacy of flameworking or hot sculpting glass. The illusions I am able to create and incorporate into my metal pieces seem endless. |
